We produce our own mulch and use it on our own beds, to great effect. The Mulch is based from Wood pellets, that we hydrate and use for the various animals bedding through out estate, we enrich this further, by adding the ash from our biomass boiler, and also other appropriate plant matter.
One key questions we are continually asked is what is the difference between Mulch and Wood Chip?
Mulch is something that can we used in a number of applications, from the based line material in beds for growing veg, to a top layer that goes over beds to stop weed growth, our mulch is composed of a number of components; Leaf matter, Wood chip, small amount of grass, ash from our biomass boiler, horse Manure.
We are asked a lot, what is the different between mulch and Wood Chip is very simply wood that is chipped through a wood chipper, this is best used on pathways etc, however could be used in beds, where you are aiming to have a less nutrient enriched soil.
